WHAT WE DO

Girls are vulnerable to being married off as child brides when families cannot afford to buy food or send their children to school. For $80 a month a girl can be fed, educated and receive a college education.

Educate Girls Now provides physical and psychosocial support to families in the provinces of Kabul, Herat, Mazar-i-Sharif and Kunduz. Mothers and their children receive monthly visits from our team to distribute food aid, and to meet the many diverse needs or emergencies as they arise. One such emergency was after the bombing in Kunduz, in which one of our families lost their home. The team has also dealt with the disappearance of a child, and marriage proposals for girls participating in the program.

During the colder months, our team provides fuel and clothing, helps with academic programs, and organizes psychological care for children and their mothers. Care is individualized to meet the needs of each family. Our dedicated staff adjusts to the culture and requirements of families in each province, and ensures that the girls complete the school year.

The targeted, grassroots method that Educate Girls Now deploys has proven to be the most efficient and effective way to get aid directly to where it is needed most. The program’s success is evident in the number of girls who have graduated secondary school through the program, and now have gone on to university studies. With your help we can double the number of participating families, and help hundreds of girls make their mark on the world.
