Educate Girls Now will never give up supporting girls in Afghanistan to receive an education. No matter what!
For the last ten years, Educate Girls Now (EGN) has been like a strong mother who never stops giving love, hope, and support to her children. Even during the Taliban invasion, we never stopped helping our girls and their families. We continued to send monthly funds to fulfill their basic needs — food, warm clothes, and fuel in the cold winter — as well as tutoring and writing materials.
Since the change of regime, EGN has remained one of the only non-profit organizations in Afghanistan. With great dedication, we have adjusted to the critical new situation. To ensure that a generation of girls do not lose the opportunity of an education, EGN has established online classes and home tutoring for all our girls. They are forbidden from attending regular school, but they continue learning in our unique, home-based, online program. We believe that education is more than school — it is a family that cares about giving hope. And so we are committed to educating our girls.
In addition, EGN has designed a safe alternative for families that wish for their girls to pursue their education abroad. We have formed a partnership with the Asian University for Women (AUW) that allows our girls to pursue their studies in Bangladesh. EGN successfully sent three girls to AUW last year, and we are currently processing the applications and travel documents for a second group.
Even before our girls begin attending AUW, the EGN team provides them with college-prep English classes taught by Afghan teachers. We also offer English language courses taught by teachers in the United States. Donations from our supporters pay the tuition fees and provide laptops and cell phones as well as emotional and financial support to prepare our applicants for travel to Bangladesh.
